(2026) : Field Report on the Implementation of the ERPsim Business Simulation in Higher Education In: Trautwein, Friedrich; Zürn, Birgit; Gaa, Gabriel; Schaal, Maren; Zimmer, Annemarie; Alf, Tobias (Hg.): Simulation Games: Insights into International Practice and Research (ZMS Publication Series), S. 146-154
Abstract: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems allow companies to handle various core processes through a common software and database shared across different business departments. The use of these systems requires practice. To support the learning process, ERP systems can already beintroduced in higher education to train future professionals. DHBW Stuttgart is currently implementing the ERPsim business simulation developed by Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) Montréal. First implementations of the software-based game have already taken place with students of different study programs and different semesters. Data was collected, comparing the simulation game to courses teaching SAP with case studies, indicating positive effects of the ERPsim simulation on the perceived learning experience. According to the survey, students found the interactive way of exploring the software to be a positive aspect. However, further data is needed to confirm the preliminary assumptions.
